Bot/Crawler Name

With over 3,000,000+ records in our database, we use AI to help identify and label each bot or crawler. About 70% of bots reveal their identity automatically, but many do not. For those unidentified entries, our AI system analyzes their behavior, hostnames, and patterns to determine the most likely bot name. While this process greatly improves accuracy, there’s still a small chance of misidentification — and we’re continually refining our system to make it even more precise.

IP Address

An IP address is a unique set of numbers that identifies a device or server on the internet - kind of like a home address, but for computers. When a bot or crawler visits a website, its IP address shows where the request is coming from. This helps us track network activity, detect patterns, and group visits from the same source. Some IP addresses belong to well-known companies or hosting providers, while others may come from private servers or proxy networks.

Hostname

A hostname is the name assigned to a computer, server, or device on a network. It's what turns a hard-to-read IP address (like 142.250.190.78) into something easy to understand, such as google.com. Hostnames help identify where a request is coming from or going to, making it easier to track network activity, find the source of traffic, or connect to specific servers.

User Agent

A User Agent is a small piece of information that a browser, bot, or crawler sends when it visits a website. It tells the site what type of software or device is making the request — for example, “Googlebot,” “Chrome on Windows,” or “iPhone Safari.” This helps us understand how a visitor is accessing the site and can be used to identify different bots or crawlers. However, some bots may disguise or fake their user agent to appear as normal visitors, which makes detection and identification more challenging.
