What is Applebot?

Applebot is the official web crawler developed and operated by Apple Inc. Its primary function is to index web pages and gather data for Apple's ecosystem, including Siri, Spotlight Suggestions, and other Apple services that require up-to-date web content. Applebot identifies itself with user-agent strings containing 'applebot' or references to 'apple.com'. Website administrators can control Applebot's access using standard robots.txt directives. Applebot follows web standards for crawling and indexing, respecting site owners' preferences regarding which content should be indexed or excluded. Its operation is similar to other major web crawlers, such as Googlebot and Bingbot, but it is specifically tailored to support Apple's products and services.
